KELOWNA - The farmers market is on the move to downtown Kelowna.

The Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters' Market has been talking for years about moving to one of several possible locations, including downtown and now it's finally a reality.

Starting this Saturday, July 8, you can find the Market along Bernard Avenue, downtown, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the summer months. Bernard Avenue will be closed during that time from Mill Street to Water Street in order to accommodate the market.

Roughly 30 vendors will be set up at the new location, according to a release.

The new location will be in addition to the existing location on the corner of Springfield Road and Dilworth Drive.

Rumours and failed negotiations for another market location have been ongoing for over a decade.

A Granville Island style market has been spoken of, as well as relocating the market to Clement Avenue, and an open air market on the corner of Benvoulin and Mayer Roads.

Although each idea seemed laden with promise, they all failed to materialize.

Residents will just have to wait until Saturday to see if the new Bernard Avenue location is the real deal.
