Abandoned dog found badly injured in Rutland

KELOWNA - A severely wounded dog turned up in the backyard of a Rutland home this afternoon and district officials are looking for its owner.

It appears the white male poodle-mix was hit by a car before finding its way to a residence on Hein Road. The dog was found just before noon wearing only a flea collar and black nylon collar but appears to be unlicensed with no identification, chip or tattoo.

While the dog is currently undergoing an operation to treat wounds to its shoulder and side, the Regional District of the Central Okanagan is asking the public to help them locate its owner.

If anyone can identify the dog or owner, they can contact the Regional Dog Control at the Dog Pound, at 890 Weddell Place in Kelowna, or by calling 250-979-0925.

To contact the reporter for this story, email Julie Whittet at jwhittet@infotelnews.ca or call (250)718-0428.
