KELOWNA - An abandoned campfire is being blamed for an early morning bush fire near Duck Lake in Kelowna.
Crews responded to reports of a fire on the east side of Duck Lake at 5 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, Kelowna Fire Department platoon captain Scott Clarke said in a press release.
Arriving on scene, they found a bush fire about 50 feet square that appears to have started from an abandoned campfire, Clarke said, which is illegal within Kelowna city limits.
Fire crews remain on scene, mopping up remnants of the blaze, he added.
