KAMLOOPS — The Association of Professional Biology will be hosting their 40th annual Professional Biology Conference at Thompson Rivers University next month.

The three-day conference and annual general meeting titled “Resilience in Practice” will offer several unique workshops and opportunities to learn from various leaders in the industry. Last year's conference took place in Richmond.

Some of the topics to be discussed include species at risk, population declines and ecosystem functions, according to the conference’s website.

“The intensity of wildfires and extreme weather is increasing as the effects of climate change continue to spread,” the website says. “Biology professionals have a critical role in addressing these issues while being faced with some of the greatest challenges in effecting change.”

The conference is open to anyone but it is geared for biology professionals, natural resource managers, researchers, industry representatives, First Nations and not-for-profit organizations.

The conference will take place from May 9 to 11 and incorporate workshops, keynote speakers and a field tour of the Lac Du Bois and Tranquille Valley grassland areas.
