Surrey RCMP found a huge quantity of fentanyl, along with more than $100,000 in cash and a handgun during a raid on a Surrey home last month.

The Surrey RCMP Drug Unit searched a home in the Whalley neighbourhood, Aug. 20, after spotting two individuals involved with activity consistent with drug trafficking outside of a home in the 9400 block of 129 Street, according an RCMP news release.

The suspects were arrested when they were found to have street drugs and cash on them. Officers then obtained a search warrant for the house, which was executed on the same day.

One of the suspects was released at the scene and another was arrested, RCMP said. No charges were laid and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Police said one of the suspects is believed to be involved in a Lower Mainland gang conflict.

“This investigation has taken a significant amount of illicit drugs off the street,” acting proactive enforcement officer Staff Sgt. Ryan Element said in the release. “Given the current opioid overdose crisis, these drugs could very likely have harmed or killed people in our community.”

Anyone that has any information about the investigation is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if you wish to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or make a report online here.
