$20K worth of stolen goods, including dirt bikes, recovered from Kamloops motel

One man was taken into custody last week after Kamloops RCMP located $20,000 of stolen goods at a Valleyview motel.

Police were called on Nov. 25 to a nearby business for a report of an overnight break in, where they reviewed surveillance footage that helped identify the suspect, according to an RCMP news release.

After reviewing security footage at neighbouring businesses, they were able to track the suspect to a motel just one block away from the business.

“Investigators tracked the suspect to a motel on the 1900-block of the East Trans Canada Highway,” Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in the release. “When the suspect answered the door for police, the officers observed several dirt bikes inside, including one they recognized to be stolen.”

Police say they arrested the suspect then obtained a search warrant so the stolen property could be seized and returned.

He was later released with a court date as charges are yet to be approved.
