Two adults and one infant died following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred along Highway 5 this morning.

Barriere RCMP, B.C. Highway Patrol and Emergency Services attended to the scene of the collision involving a semi truck on Highway 5 near Vinsulla, north of Kamloops, Thursday, June 16.

The call was received just before 11 a.m. said Cpl. Mike Halskov, with the B.C. RCMP Highway Patrol.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time and police officers are in the early stages of their investigation.

The highway is currently closed in both directions and no detour is available, according to DriveB.C. Major delays are expected.

The highway was also closed overnight following an accident south of Little Fort yesterday, June 15, between Allen-Meeker Road and Thuya Creek Road.

"Barriere RCMP responded to a head on collision between a semi truck and a pickup truck in the 8000 block of Highway 5 in Darfield on June 15, at around 8:20 p.m. The driver of the pickup truck was injured and the passenger did not survive. The collision remains under investigation to determine the leading cause of the crash," according to the RCMP.
