More than $100,000 has been donated to the B.C. SPCA thanks to a fundraiser using NFTs, non-fungible tokens, started by a Kelowna business.
The RuffLife Rescues NFTs has donated $101,357.91 to the SPCA as the first instalment of their ongoing NFT cryptocurrency sales.
“Our team at RuffLife rescues is incredibly proud to be able to make such a significant donation to the B.C. SPCA in order to help provide a better quality of life for animals in our community,” said Daniel Gray, founder and CEO of RuffLife Rescues, in a press release.

“My family rescued our 17-year-old dog Ozzy and he has served as part of our inspiration for wanting to give back to the B.C. SPCA.”
The donation was made to the B.C. SPCA using Solano cryptocurrency, making it the largest donation made to a charity using Solano in Canada. The total donation amount was 762.4 SOL, valued at CA $101,357.91, according to RuffLife.
The NFTs launched Dec. 20, 2021, with a promise to donate 40% of all profits to the B.C. SPCA.
RuffLife Rescues are a unique collection of 8888 3D dog NFTs, according to the press release.
