  • Homelessness Partnering Strategy Update

    Kamloops, BC – The City of Kamloops and the Government of Canada are nearing the end of year four of the five-year Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) funding agreement. Between 2014 and 2019, over $3 million will have been distributed to the City for initiatives aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness by providing direct support and funding to the community.
  • Aboriginal supportive recovery beds planned for newly opened wellness centre

    Interior Health (IH), in partnership with the Esk’etemc First Nation and the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), is pleased to announce plans for six new Aboriginal supportive recovery beds in the brand new Alkali Lake Wellness Centre, to enhance mental health and substance use (MHSU) services for Aboriginal residents of the Thompson Cariboo region.

  • Canada Summer Jobs 2017 application period extended

    KELOWNA - Stephen Fuhr, Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country would like to alert local employers that the deadline for the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) employer application period has been extended. All not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with up to 50 employees will now have until February 3, 2017 to submit an application.
  • Parkers to fundraise for Pathways Addictions Resource Centre

    PENTICTON - With the rash of drug overdoses in Penticton and an ongoing concern for the well-being of the community, Parkers will be donating $100 for every vehicle sold and $10 for every oil change service during the month of December to Pathways Addictions Resource Centre.  The fundraising effort will be in memory of Colin Parker, the late son of Parker’s owner Janet Parker, who passed away in early October.
  • Nominations open for the 2016 Kelowna Civic and Community Awards

    Nominations are now being accepted for the City of Kelowna’s 42nd annual Civic and Community Awards. The awards recognize outstanding individuals and organizations whose contributions and achievements brought recognition to the city in 2016.

  • New Family Hub at Pearson Road Elementary will offer support and resources

    KELOWNA - Parents and guardians of children in Kelowna will be able to access a range of early learning, health and family services in one convenient location now that the Central Okanagan Family Hub – one of the province’s new B.C. Early Years Centres – has opened at Pearson Road Elementary School to serve families with children under 19 years of age.
