  • Spring cleaning well underway in West Kelowna

    Spring is in the air and crews have been busy cleaning roads and preparing parks and sports fields for the longer, warmer days ahead.

    Sports fields, and washrooms at athletic parks, will open April 15. Public washrooms at other city parks and greenways are open now.

    Spring street sweeping is proceeding on schedule and is slated to wrap up within the next two weeks.

  • Spring sweeping and flushing begins in Vernon

    VERNON - City of Vernon crews and contract forces have started the spring sweeping and flushing program.

    High-volume roads that generate excessive dust will be completed first. The remaining residential areas will be completed as soon as the road edges are clear of snow. The spring sweeping program will take approximately four to five weeks to complete; timing will be dependent on weather conditions.

    Municipal Hall/Civic Centre
    Mayor Doug Findlater rose and reported that Council had selected a preferred proponent for the development of a Municipal Hall/Civic Centre at 3641 Elliott Road and that the District will now enter into negotiations for a possible contract with New Town/Sturgess Group regarding its proposed development at the site. The conceptual design proposal presented for 3641 Elliott Road calls for a two-phased approach.
