  • Expected Repairs & Refinements to Mission Creek Restoration Project

    As predicted, higher-than-normal freshet flows this spring caused changes to Mission Creek that require repair and refinement of the floodplain and fish habitat restoration work completed in 2016. The Mission Creek Greenway dike on the south side of the creek between Casorso Road and Gordon Drive will remain open while work is undertaken next week.

    Council took part in a workshop to review the effectiveness of secondary suite and carriage house regulations in the community, and provided direction on key decision points. Council first implemented secondary suite regulations in 2010 and allowed carriage homes beginning in 2015.

  • Capital Projects public consultation meeting attracts 170 residents

    VERNON - The City of Vernon hosted a capital projects public consultation meeting at the Vernon Recreation Centre on Wednesday evening, which was attended by more than 170 Vernon residents. The meeting provided the opportunity for residents and businesses to review the capital projects scheduled for construction in 2017, as well as discuss any concerns with the project team regarding the design, road closures, timing of construction or other issues.
