  • Responsible Dog Ownership Catching On In Central Okanagan

    The efforts to encourage, support and reward responsible dog ownership in the Central Okanagan appear to be catching on.

    Information for the Dog Service during 2013 shows positive steps in several important statistical categories.

    During the past year, the number of licensed dogs in the Central Okanagan grew by almost 30%.  At the end of 2013, there were just over 16,900 licensed dogs in the region.
  • Free license amnesty offer ends October 31

    Unlicensed dogs in the Central Okanagan have one week left to receive their free 2013 dog license.   The Free Dog License Amnesty Month offer ends on Thursday, October 31st.

    “We’ve had a great response since the program began at the start of the month, but the offer of a free dog license for the rest of the year will not be extended past the 31st,” says Communications Officer Bruce Smith.
  • No dogs allowed in parks in and around Vernon

    The City of Vernon Bylaw Enforcement Department would like to remind pet owners that there are no dogs allowed in City or Regional parks, including Polson Park and Lakeview Park, on the beaches, or on the board walk at the rear of Polson Park unless the park is specifically signed as a dog park.
