  • GenNext Kelowna donates $5,000 for Youth Initiative Grants

    Kelowna, B.C.– GenNext Kelowna Board Chair, Carly Gilmore presented a $5,000 cheque to United Way CSO Marketing and Events Manager, Marianne Dahl at the GenNext fall networking social. The funds are earmarked for the 2018 Youth Initiative Grants, a joint initiative with the Central Okanagan Foundation. This program enables local youth 25 or younger to apply for grants up to $2,000 to support their community-focused initiatives.

    During the month of October the City of Vernon partnered with four elementary schools to celebrate International Walk and Wheel to School Month (iWalk/iWheel), an annual global event that promotes the benefits of active travel to school. Students who walked, biked, or scootered to school won prizes at celebration stations hosted at Ellison Elementary, Harwood Elementary, Okanagan Landing Elementary, and Ecole Beairsto Elementary.

    On Sunday, November 19, the Canucks Autism Network (CAN) and Kelowna International Airport (YLW) will be hosting the first-ever YLW Accessibility Tour for families living with autism. The tour will take families through the entire pre-flight process, including entering the airport, waiting in line, passing through security and boarding a plane.

    The Canucks Autism Network’s I CAN Fly program was developed in partnership with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in 2014.
