    Four Okanagan College students have punched their tickets to Winnipeg, MB to compete in the Skills Canada National Competition next month, after gold medal-winning performances at the provincial competition in Abbotsford last week.

    KAMLOOPS - The Kamloops Blazers have seven current roster players and two recently graduated players that have attended NHL Development Camps in the early part of July. 
  • Do It For Dad raises nearly $20,000 in Vernon

    VERNON - The 17th Annual Do It For Dad Run ad Walk presented by Interior Savings on Saturday, June 19 was a great success raising $19,359 for prostate cancer treatment and awareness in the North Okanagan.

    Event organizers, Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation and the Vernon Prostate Cancer Support ad Awareness Group would like to thank all of the sponsors, volunteers and participants who helped increase awareness of prostate cancer while raising funds for this important cause.
  • WHL awards and bantam draft this week

    KAMLOOPS – The WHL Awards Luncheon and WHL Bantam Draft will be held in Calgary this week. The WHL Awards Banquet is on Wednesday, May 6, and the WHL Bantam Draft takes place on Thursday, May 7. Both events will be held in the at the Deerfoot Inn in Calgary, AB. 
  • Real Estate Board announces 2015-2016 president and directors

    KELOWNA - The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board is pleased to announce the election of realtor Christopher Miller of Kelowna to the position of President for the 2015-2016 term.

    Miller was installed along with 11 Directors representing the Central Okanagan, North Okanagan and Shuswap zones at OMREB’s Annual General Meeting on Monday, March 9, 2015. He replaces outgoing President Darcy Griffiths of Vernon who stays on as Past President.
  • Grant supports Penticton Community Centre accessibility

    PENTICTON — The City of Penticton has received a grant of $7,700 from the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen to enhance change room accessibility in the Penticton Community Centre.
  • Rookie Camp Concludes, Main Camp Scrimmages Tomorrow

    After two days of rookie camp, the Blazers have combined the rookies and veterans for main camp scrimmages that begin tomorrow. 57 players have been divided into three teams for the next two days.

    Three scrimmages from 9:00am – 1:00pm will go tomorrow and on Monday before the Blazers will cut down numbers to make two teams for Tuesday and Wednesday.

    Today, there were four rookie scrimmages starting at 9:00am and ending at 9:00pm.
  • Blazers Rookie Camp Underway

    Rookie camp has begun and 59 players have been divided into four teams. After a morning practice, there were two evening scrimmages that concluded Day 1.
    The main camp players took to the ice for their first official practice today. In total, 22 skaters and four goaltenders participated in the practice. The main camp players will practice once again Saturday from 3:15pm – 4:45pm.
  • Grant to support outdoor fitness equipment at Skaha Lake Park

    Outdoor activity enthusiasts will have more options along the Penticton waterfront this fall, as the City of Penticton has secured grant funding for outdoor fitness stations.
