  • YMCA of Okanagan joins the Y Mind Initiative to help youth with anxiety in BC

    KELOWNA, BC — The YMCA of Okanagan is joining the YMCA of British Columbia’s Y Mind initiative to help young adults manage stress, worries and anxiety. With $3 million in funding support provided by the Government of British Columbia, the YMCA Mindfulness Group program, as a part of the Y Mind initiative, will expand to five regions across the province.
  • 9th Annual Heap the Honda Children’s Book Drive

    Kamloops, BC – The 9th annual Heap the Honda Children’s Book Drive, sponsored by Kamloops Honda in partnership with Literacy in Kamloops (LinK), takes place January 6-27, 2018. The goals of this project are to increase book ownership in all homes and to encourage a love of reading. Over the past eight years, more than 80,000 children’s books have been given away.

  • Prestigious scholarships propel Okanagan College students to study abroad

    Okanagan College’s Grace Oswald and Kira Johnson are among 29 students in British Columbia that are fulfilling their dreams of studying abroad thanks to the Irving K. Barber Premier’s International Scholarship which awards students between $6,000 and $10,000.
  • Construction Completed on Key West Kelowna Wastewater Infrastructure

    More than 2,200 residents are benefitting from the Horizon Village Lift Station wastewater improvement project, which was completed with contributions from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia under the New Building Canada Small Communities Fund.

    The old lift station was running well beyond its intended capacity due to continuing rapid growth in the City of West Kelowna.
  • Safety tips to prepare for winter storm season

    VICTORIA - Most areas of British Columbia have already seen their first snow of the season, and winter conditions will be the norm for the next few months. Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General and Minister Responsible for Emergency Preparedness Mike Farnworth reminds British Columbians that proactive winter storm preparedness can go a long way towards ensuring the safety of B.C. families.

  • 'Ring in the Season' at a special OSO Christmas show

    The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) is thrilled to share the stage with the Okanagan Handbell Chorus for a special Christmas performance, 'Ringing in the Season.'

    By popular demand, we welcome back thirteen of BC’s most accomplished handbell ringers to ring in the holiday season with an evening of sparkling music. Anthony Lau will also join the festivities performing such seasonal classics as Panis Angelicus and O Holy Night on the classical harmonica.
