    Lake Country, BC – The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting has been awarded to the District of Lake Country by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2016 annual financial report. Chief Administrative Officer, Alberto De Feo presented the Award to Chief Financial Officer Tanya Garost and Finance staff members Annie Lynch and Richard Wagner at a televised Council meeting Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

    As the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) watches the fall-out of the discovery of invasive mussels in Montana, only a few hours drive from B.C., and with news that the B.C. Government is getting ready to announce its latest budget, the board is calling on the province to include proper mussel prevention funding.

    The call comes in a letter sent to B.C.

  • Discharge coming from the Sandher Fruit Packer plant. Fruit packers near Kelowna fined another $78,000
    A fruit packing plant in the Ellison area east of Kelowna was hit with another $78,368 in fines for discharging effluent into a failed septic field. That’s now more than $110,000 in fines since 2022 for the same issue at Sandher Fruit
