  • Regional District adopts Heritage Plan

    The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is pleased to announce that the Regional Heritage Strategic Plan (RHSP) was adopted by the Regional District Board of Directors at the September 17, 2015 Board Meeting. In late 2013, the Board retained consultants from Denise Cook Design to identify existing heritage sites and values throughout the region.
  • Okanagan College board chair re-elected

    KELOWNA - Tom Styffe has been re-elected as chair of Okanagan College’s board of governors.

    In an election held at the year’s first board meeting last week Styffe, who has served for two years in the role, was chosen again as chair. Doug Manning, who has served on the board since 2010, was elected as Vice Chair.

    “I’m proud to be in this role,” explained Styffe.

    Kalamalka Lake is a major domestic water source for Greater Vernon, providing about 40% of water to customers.
  • West Kelowna council meeting December 10, 2013

    Regional Growth Strategy
    Council agreed not to accept the Regional District of Central Okanagan’s Regional Growth (RGS) Strategy due to concerns with requirements for professional studies that the District does not currently require in its Official Community Plan (OCP). Since OCPs must be consistent with the RGS, this requirement could trigger amendments to existing West Kelowna bylaws.

    As articles about Canada’s shortage of skilled workers continue to dominate the headlines, the timing couldn’t be better for Okanagan College to announce its newest Dean, Steve Moores, an experienced post-secondary education administrator who will join the College in January to lead Trades and Apprenticeship.
  • Highlights of the Inaugural and Regular Regional Board Meetings – December 9, 2013

    No Dog License Fine - Increasing Jan. 1

    The Regional Board has adopted bylaw changes that will see a substantial increase in the fine for the owner of an unlicensed dog.  Starting January 1, any unlicensed dog will be subject to a $300 fine.  The current fine is $100.
