  • Volunteers tackle backwoods mess for community clean up

This weekend marks the kick off to Community Clean-Up Month-- and to mark the occasion a crew of enthusiastic volunteers will head to a popular recreation corridor to clean up garbage-- left behind by a careless few. And they’re challenging you to do the same—to take even a small portion of your day to do a clean-up in your own neighborhood.

The clean-up kickoff event is an annual one, organized in a new locale each year by the Regional District Waste Reduction office.
  • Volunteer group wants help targeting illegal dumping

CENTRAL OKANGAN - For the second time in a matter of weeks, a dedicated group of volunteer outdoor enthusiasts will be out in the bush this coming weekend cleaning up illegally dumped garbage others less responsible have left behind. And if you want to pitch in and lend some elbow grease to their cause, they could sure use your help.
  • Garbage volunteers needed

Do you ever think about where your garbage goes when you set it at the curb or toss it in the nearest dumpster? Want to have some input on the future of our garbage and how it’s managed? Well now is your chance!

The Regional District of Central Okanagan is updating its Solid Waste Management Plan to lay the groundwork for managing and reducing our garbage over the next 15 years.
