  • Chip Your Christmas Tree, Don’t Chuck It!

    When you take down your Christmas tree after the holidays, keep in mind you can dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way and have it chipped, not chucked.

    “You can give your tree another life after the holidays by dropping it off at any one of the convenient Chip It locations,” says Waste Reduction Facilitator Rae Stewart with the Regional District. Your tree will then be chipped down and composted into a nutrient rich soil enhancer called GlenGrow.

  • Penticton Regional Hospital announces changes to public parking and entrances

    PENTICTON – Due to construction work on the new Patient Care Tower, Interior Health will be relocating public parking and creating an additional public entrance at Penticton Regional Hospital starting Aug. 27.

    At that time, public parking will be available in a lot at the rear of the hospital, off Industrial Avenue.

    An alternate entrance, convenient to the new parking location, will be available off Industrial Avenue and open from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.

    KELOWNA - A four-year UBC study will look at current forest management practices to determine how harvesting, and natural disturbances — such as wildfires and pest infestations — are affecting the natural balance between carbon and water.
