  • Pedestrian Crossing Over McDougall Creek Closed

    The foot crossing over McDougall Creek will be closed intermittently between the work hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday, August 28, 2017 and continuing for at least one week.

    The closures are required for safety reasons while demolition occurs on the adjacent sidewalk and surrounding infrastructure.

    The contractor will try to minimize the length of the closures during work hours; and the pedestrian bridge will remain open during non-working hours.

  • Worksafe BC warns of dangers of asbestos

    WorkSafeBC has launched an awareness campaign targeted to home property owners who are considering or undertaking renovations or demolitions, regarding the dangers of asbestos in homes built before 1990.  The campaign runs until early 2017 across a broad spectrum of media including radio, television, print and social media. 
  • Breakwater Construction at Regional Park in Lake Country

    Demolition and construction of a large portion of the north breakwater is expected to begin next week in Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour Regional Park.

    To prepare, the contractor (Burton Marine Pile Driving Inc.) will begin moving a barge and other equipment into place early next week.

    It’s anticipated the breakwater construction will be substantially complete by April 20th and some minor clean-up of the park will take place during the following week.
  • New redesigned and expanded pharmacy department coming to VJH

    VERNON – Construction has begun to transform Vernon Jubilee’s old Emergency Department into a new and expanded Pharmacy Department.

    “Our hospital’s pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants play a vital role in providing quality patient care,” says Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster.
  • West Kelowna council highlights Sept. 10

    Memorial Park Parking Lot Improvements
    West Kelowna Council directed staff to complete upgrades and expansion to the South Parking Lot at Memorial Park, using asphalt grindings which is expected to cost significantly less than the budget of $153,000 for paving of the parking lot. An additional 21 parking spots will be created.
