  • Aboriginal supportive recovery beds planned for newly opened wellness centre

    Interior Health (IH), in partnership with the Esk’etemc First Nation and the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), is pleased to announce plans for six new Aboriginal supportive recovery beds in the brand new Alkali Lake Wellness Centre, to enhance mental health and substance use (MHSU) services for Aboriginal residents of the Thompson Cariboo region.

    At the Inaugural Statutory meeting of the Regional District Board, Kelowna Councillor Gail Given was acclaimed as Chair and will serve for a fourth year. West Kelowna Mayor Doug Findlater was also acclaimed as Vice-Chair. Kelowna Councillor Charlie Hodge was recently appointed by the City of Kelowna as its seventh Director.

  • Interior Health awards contract for new residential care beds in Salmon Arm

    After a thorough procurement process, Interior Health has awarded a contract for the development of 60 residential care beds in Salmon Arm to inSite Housing, Hospitality & Health Services Inc.

    “These new residential care beds are a vital investment to serve seniors and others who require this high level of care,” said Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo. “These beds will provide a comfortable, home-like environment to support residents.
  • Best in class technology will deliver a better transit experience in BC communities

    THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - BC Transit is beginning a request for proposal (RFP) process to introduce Real Time, automatic vehicle location (AVL) enabled technology on buses in seven transit communities, including Kamloops, Nanaimo, Comox Valley, Squamish, Whistler, Kelowna and Victoria.  BC Transit aims to introduce the customer-facing features of the Real Time technology in 2018.
