  • Pacific Way reopens

    The City of Kamloops is pleased to announce that the upgrade work on Pacific Way is substantially complete. The project, which started in July of this year, consisted of:
  • Your Kamloops commute this week

    Overlanders Bridge Rehabilitation Project (Week of Aug 23)
    - With the re-opening of the south west off ramp, all southbound passenger vehicles and buses traveling downtown are now detoured through a temporary bypass that was constructed off the south west ramp. All southbound heavy trucks must detour through Mission Flats intersection (detour signs are in place) or travel up Summit Drive. Traffic control signage and personnel are in place.
  • Kelowna road closures for the coming week

    KELOWNA - Work will take place on several bridges, Lakeshore Road and Baron Road this week. 
  • Brown Road re-opens this week

    WEST KELOWNA - Work is complete on Brown Road in West Kelowna and will be open to motorists Saturday, May 31. The road has been closed since March 18 for the significant Westbank Centre Revitalization Project.

    Barricades and fencing will be removed by the end of day Friday and the newly-upgraded road will be open to the public for the weekend.

    On August 2, 2013 Council awarded a construction contract, in the amount of $2,586,619 to R&L Excavating Ltd.
  • Brown Road re-opens this week

    Work is complete on Brown Road in West Kelowna and will be open to motorists Saturday, May 31. The road has been closed since March 18 for the significant Westbank Centre Revitalization Project.

    Sustainable Transportation Partnership
    Council was provided an update on the activities of the Sustainable Transportation Partnership. In March 2013, the partnership was established through an Intermunicipal Service Agreement between the local governments of West Kelowna, Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, Westbank First Nation and the Regional District of Central Okanagan.

    Safety Program Recognized
    On behalf of Council and the District of West Kelowna, Mayor Doug Findlater accepted two Certificates of Recognition from Worksafe BC and the BC Municipal Safety Association (BCMSA) after a comprehensive review of its Occupational Health and Safety Program and Return to Work/Stay at Work Program.
  • Brown Road reopens in Westbank Centre

    WEST KELOWNA - The District of West Kelowna has reopened Brown Road between Main Street and Bering Road, just in time for the influx of holiday traffic into Westbank Centre. The section of road had been closed since August 26 for a significant Westbank Centre Revitalization project.

    Pedestrians are advised to watch for uneven curbs when crossing Brown Road because only the first layer of asphalt was placed before cold weather set in.
  • Brown Road upgrades to begin August 26

    Brown Road will be closed for construction from August 26 through mid-November, but access to businesses, churches and residences will be maintained during the Phase 1 Streetscape Improvement Project.

    During construction, the public will be directed to use Old Okanagan Highway and then proceed along Bering, Gossett, Apollo or Drought Roads to access area businesses, churches and residences.
