    Representatives of the West Kelowna RCMP, the District of Peachland and the Regional District of Central Okanagan gathered to recognize an ‘E’ Division RCMP Volunteer for her truly exceptional dedication to the community of Peachland, of which she has now served for over two decades.
  • Santa’s Little Helpers have surprised Okanagan Retirement home with chocolates, flowers & cupcakes!

    Santa’s Little Helpers (also known as the kids of residents at SilverStar Mountain Resort and the Okanagan) set out on Sunday December 17th to Chartwell Carrington Retirement Residence to surprise them during their mealtime.

    Fifteen children aged 5-10 were dressed as Santa’s Little Helpers as they descended on the Vernon residence bearing gifts for some of the Okanagan’s finest residents.
  • Pedestrian Crossing Over McDougall Creek Closed

    The foot crossing over McDougall Creek will be closed intermittently between the work hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday, August 28, 2017 and continuing for at least one week.

    The closures are required for safety reasons while demolition occurs on the adjacent sidewalk and surrounding infrastructure.

    The contractor will try to minimize the length of the closures during work hours; and the pedestrian bridge will remain open during non-working hours.

    The Regional District has had a bylaw in place since 2001 to ensure improved control of fruit tree pests and protect the commercial fruit industry in the South Okanagan and Similkameen, which includes Electoral Areas: “A”,”B”, “C”, “D”, “E”, “F”, “G” and the Town of Oliver.

    “After her diagnosis, I was overwhelmed with what to do first. I knew what she needed, but not where to go to get that help,” says Jaimee Therrien, a mother of four, who has a 14-year-old daughter with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
