Fresh peaches, peppers, blueberries and other items picked from South Okanagan farmers can now be purchased at Kelowna’s Orchard Park Shopping Centre.

Couple and business partners Anureet Gill and Colin Marcetta opened a second Kelowna Fruit Stand location in the mall this past May and so far, it’s been met with positive reception, especially from other mall employees, Gill said.

Their first location opened years ago along Highway 97 just outside of Kelowna.

“We found we were so far out of town that we miss a lot of our locals so we wanted something a little bit more central,” Gill said. “We contacted the mall and they loved the idea.”

All the fruit comes directly from local farmers and from her parents’ orchards in Osoyoos and Oyama, she said. Everything is sold or processed in the kitchen at their other location and Gill’s mother has thousands of mason jars she uses to can all the fruits and vegetables.

The fruit stand also has wares from other local farmers, like honey, sandwiches, snacks, pies, samosas, clothing and more.

It will remain open year round.

There’s been a consistent flow of people stopping in at the fruit stand and it’s getting busier as more people become aware of it, Gill said.

With back-to-school season in full swing, more parents and kids have been picking up treats.
