Vibrant Vine Winery: Wine, art, music
Are you picking up good vibrations from Southeast Kelowna? Well, I know where it is coming from — the Vibrant Vine Winery. Southeast Kelowna is one of our wine country’s most colourful experiences. Wine, art and music are the themes here and each are demonstrated in spectacular fashion.
The wine bottles themselves are art. Shrink-wrapped in the designs of owners Wyn and Marion Lewis’s son Phil Lewis, the art walk gallery upstairs offers guests a thorough look at his talent. To add another unique dimension to Phil’s art is that it is 3D and guests are provided 3D glasses to wear for their tour.
Another extension of the family’s own interest is music. The Lewises raised their three sons to be musicians themselves and for a time the trio had a band. Here the family continues to promote the local music industry by featuring talent on their outdoor stage or downstairs in their cool lounge, Jacko’s.
The villa on the estate where Wyn and Marion live is spectacular. In true villa style, it sits atop the hillside with sprawling views of Kelowna below. Equally as spectacular are the grounds. Marion as an undergraduate in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University is actually a botanist and her garden designs are absolutely beautiful. Marion plans to offer a charity garden tour this summer to raise funds for lung cancer, a cause close to her heart since, as a non smoker and with early detection, she is a lucky and rare survivor of lung cancer. And there is also food. VV has partnered with downtown Kelowna’s popular Curious Cafe again this year. Enjoy freshly baked wood-fired pizzas and appetizers in the garden every day. There is live music booked Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (check the website for lineup and times) making this one of the few places to enjoy outdoor music with food (and wine!)
The villa grounds and estate are available for events and weddings. Inside the tasting room building is an events room complete with kitchen and patio and Jacko’s lounge downstairs is also an option to rent for a fun event with music and drinks.
