A Vernon opera singer and performer is soon to appear on a new Food Network show, the Wall of Bakers.

A spin-off from the Food Network's show Wall of Chefs, Vernon resident Melina Schein will appear in the first episode of the show when it airs at the end of the month.

"I stepped way the hell out of my comfort zone and auditioned for a new show on the Food Network called Wall of Bakers. Well, they picked me, flew me to Toronto and put me through my culinary paces," Schein posted on social media. "I competed my tush off. It was exhilarating, thrilling, terrifying, exhausting, empowering and a million other things. I had an experience of a lifetime, met some extraordinary people, and found a little, buried pocket of chutzpah I didn’t know I had."

The show is hosted by former Bachelor Canada and Bachelorette Canada presenter Noah Cappe and features 10 judges who will decide which baker walks away with the $10,000 prize money.

According to the Food Network's website, the 10-episode season sees contestants take on a panel of "tough" judges from the culinary world as they attempt to bake the perfect dish.

The season premiere at 10 p.m. Mar. 28, with Schein one of four contestants in the first episode.
