For the second year in a row, Thompson-Okanagan residents say wife-saver is the biggest Christmas morning hit.

The dish is quite versatile. It can be kept simple with break, eggs, onion, cheese, ham and cornflakes or fancied up with different vegetables.

Our classic recipe and other fan favourites of the year can be found below:

Christy Danielson’s Belgium waffles

Although Danielson isn’t giving up her grandmother’s recipe, her Belgium waffles come with warm vanilla pudding, fresh fruit compote, hash browns and sausages or bacon.

Sharon White’s quiche

White said quiche is a good Christmas morning classic. This savoury egg custard is baked in a flaky pie crust and can include a variety of meats, seafoods and vegetables. Buy the pie crust to save yourself some time on Christmas. The recipe can be found here.

Kathy Humphrey’s crepes

An easy French breakfast staple, crepes take only a few minutes to make and can be filled with anything savoury or sweet. Here’s a recipe that uses leftover eggnog.

Dena Sayers Pagnotta’s breakfast casserole

Much like a wifesaver, this casserole uses simple breakfast ingredients for a cheesy, delicious meal. Take cheese, hash browns, Italian sausage milk, eggs and onion to bring this dish to life. Sayers’ favourite recipe can be found here.
