If you are involved in the Okanagan wine industry, you will know Luke Whittall.
Friend to all, Luke has played many roles in our local wine world over the years — from cellar hand to retail to wine writer, he has been an avid student of our wine culture. In all of his efforts, he has exuded his great passion for the industry and built a huge knowledge bank of information.

“The history of the wine industry in B.C. is amazing, but largely undocumented in a published source since 1983. Every winery likes to tell their own story and sometimes those stories include parts of the bigger picture. It is confusing for wine lovers if those big picture stories are different at every winery. I hope that this book will help to unify that big picture story," he says.
This important book will take its place in the history of our wine industry and become a wonderful handbook for all to enjoy, including international wine enthusiasts.
As our star rises on the world wine stage, we are seeing international wine critics visiting more frequently.
“B.C. wine is starting to get more international attention. Steven Spurrier was just here last month. Jamie Goode has been here a few times recently. Jancis Robinson will probably be here again at some point soon. As more attention gets focused on our wines, we need to have a resource for the whole industry, not just the marketing messages for each winery,” Luke says.
This book should be on every wine lover’s book shelf and is the ideal Christmas gift for each and every one of them in your life.
“I hope that this book will serve both as an introduction to B.C. wine for people who are not familiar. With our province as well as a way for the industry to learn about themselves,” Luke says.
In other news, Luke is co-authoring the next issue of the Okanagan Wine Tour Guide, with John Schreiner, Canada's most prolific author of wine books.
