Summerland’s newest winery is now open after ten years in the making
The team at Solvero Wines is inviting the public to visit their brand new winery in Garnet Valley in Summerland to indulge in the first wine releases.
Visitors will be guided by Alison Moyes, winemaker and general manager, or Matt Sartor, president and vineyard manager and are welcomed to have a behind-the-scenes look at the production facility and taste wines while they learn about the land and vineyard, according a media release issued August 1.
It took almost a decade to develop the vineyard and build the winery that sits at 600 metres in elevation making it one of the highest in the province. The area is edged by forest and the terrain is described as difficult.
“The rugged landscape, steep slopes and well-draining soils create a unique terroir, resulting in exquisite Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines,” reads the release.
Solvero is Latin for “truth in soil”. The grapes “showcase the essence of the land” and the wines “reflect the Garnet Valley vineyard and other local vineyards.”
The initial wine release includes a Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir Rose.
