Shortages of meat, produce at Walmarts in Okanagan, Kamloops
Kelowna Walmart shoppers may be surprised to learn there isn't much produce or meat available for sale this week.
Shelves were left bare in both sections and a sign reading “due to circumstances beyond our control, we are experiencing a delay in receiving some fresh food products,” was taped to the produce aisle.
“We are working to get this corrected and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Others in Kamloops and Vernon have also noticed unusually empty shelves.
"A number of our BC Walmart Supercentres are experiencing some recent internal supply chain challenges affecting the meat category, resulting in product shortages," according to a statement from Walmart Canada.
The last time grocery stores saw empty shelves was during the pandemic when supply chain issues coupled with increased demand left shelves of toilet paper empty.
Shortages also occurred in the Interior when all highways from the Lower Mainland were temporarily cut off due to flooding and landslides.
