iNwine Wednesday: Rosé-all-day is still in effect
Rosé-all-day is still in effect, people! Summer may technically be over and the skies may have turned cloudy, but rosé doesn’t need sunshine— especially Pinot Noir rosé. Did you know that rosé happens to pair perfectly with Thanksgiving turkey? One of my favourites this year and one that is a perfect pick for fall days and Thanksgiving dinner is from O’Rourke’s Peak Cellars. Elegant and dry, this beauty is the perfect patio sipper but also excellent with food. It is made from 100% estate grown Pinot Noir from O’Rourke’s special Lake Country terroir. At only $21 a bottle, this is one to purchase by the case.
2018 O'Rourke's Peak Cellars Rosé
The aromatics are awash with strawberry, raspberry and licorice notes.
The palate is long and tasty, filled with strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate and blood orange. The finish on the wine is delightful; full of cooked strawberry and raspberry compote. Destemmed and crushed to press with 18 hours of skin contact, then pressed off and fermented like a white wine.
They use a neutral yeast strain to ferment the Rosé, adding nothing - just preserving the natural Pinot Noir flavours.
And, I have big news to share from O'Rourke's Peak Cellars! Nikki Callaway has just joined their all star winemaking team. Nikki will be focusing on the O'Rourke Family Estate Wines, and Stephanie Stanley will be focusing on Peak Cellars with Adrian Baker in the role of director of winemaking.
You may have heard other grand tales through the B.C. grapevine about the future of O’Rourke’s Peak Cellar. Yes, it's true. The magnificence of what the O’Rourke family is building in Lake Country will put them on the map instantly as one of Canada’s most prestigious wineries and a world destination.
From incredible wine caves, to an amphitheater, to a new restaurant, an inn and a lake house with lake access, they will have it all and more. We will be sharing the exciting news in stages through iNwine over the coming months so stay tuned. It is all so exciting!
In the meantime, enjoy their current winery and delicious Garden Bistro featuring garden to table cuisine paired with their fantastic lineup of wines.
Cheers to the O'Rourke family!
