O'Rourke's Peak Cellars opens for the season with fabulous new wines & a delicious new menu
O’Rourke’s Peak Cellars is thrilled to announce that they are open for the season. The team at Peak has put together a seamless new experience for guests to safely enjoy wine tastings and dining at The Garden Bistro at their gorgeous Lake Country winery.
For wine tastings, visitors are encouraged to now book a reservation online to ensure a time as the new social distancing protocols will allow small groups only. The patio of The Garden Bistro has been expanded allowing the tables to be appropriately distanced allowing guests to revel in the lake and vineyard view setting to enjoy their garden to table themed meal.
Chef Frederic Czapek has created a beautiful menu featuring seasonal produce from the winery’s vast, organic garden on site. Born in Germany, Chef Frederic was trained in Austria and brings a European touch to his cuisine. The new outdoor gas pizza oven has allowed him to create beautiful thin crust pizzas that diners are going crazy for. The Lobster Pizza has a cult following for good reason, huge chunks of lobster dot a dill spiked creamy base, making for a truly beautiful and delicious work of food art.
Peak Cellars has winemaker Stephanie Stanley at the helm and she has created a stunning new spring line up of wines. There are two Rosés to choose from this year, one is a beautiful micro batch created from a single block of estate Pinot Noir vines that explodes with strawberry notes. The new unoaked Chardonnay is creating a wave of excitement for all of the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) crowd. Crystal clear in colour with a tint of green, the palate offering is a beautiful, complex wine that will please all.
The 2018 Gewürztraminer here is in a word, extraordinary. Stephanie has managed to take this sometimes too sweet cloying grape and finesse it into an elegant, aromatic delight. On the nose there are notes of rose, papaya, mango, ginger and orange rind. The palate reflects the aromas with roses and orange rind, with a hint of pineapple and a typical dry twist. This wine is savoury and finishes with orange, ginger and cloves. And the unbelievable part is that it is only $18. Buy two cases – this is your new summer favourite.
The current protocols are allowing amazing, intimate tasting experiences for groups of six in the vineyard. Choose to enjoy a guided walking tour through the vines before your tasting outdoors. Or book a delicious wine and cheese & charcuterie pairing experience surrounded by the vineyard and views of Okanagan Lake.
