Anyone hoping to impress their date on Valentine’s Day might be interested to know that seven Okanagan eateries made it onto a list of Canada’s top 100 most romantic restaurants.

Open Table, the online reservation company, created the list by analyzing 726,000 diner reviews from 2021, according to an Open Table media release.

Across B.C., 22 establishments made the top 100.

The Okanagan’s romantic restaurants, according to the list, are the Villa Rosa Ristorante in Penticton, Terrace Restaurant at Mission Hill Family Estate in West Kelowna, the Fixx Cafe in Kelowna, the Old Vines Restaurant at Quails' Gate Estate Winery in Kelowna, Home Block at CedarCreek Estate Winery in Kelowna, BLOCK ONE Restaurant at 50th Parallel Winery in Lake Country and the Phoenix Steakhouse in Vernon.

“This Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to fall in love with restaurants once again,” Matt Davis with OpenTable said in a press release.

“Our Top 100 list is a great resource and source of inspiration, spanning many different cuisine types and offering options to dine-in or take to-go, helping those Canadians still looking for that perfect Valentine’s Day, discover and book the right restaurant experience.”

Establishments don’t necessarily need a romantic name to make it on the list, as demonstrated by the Pitchfork in Nelson and L'Abattoir Restaurant in Vancouver.

All the winning restaurants appear to be independent brands except for one – The Keg in Nova Scotia.

According to OpenTable, 10% of British Columbians said they celebrated the Valentines Day at a restaurant in 2020.
