New service offers chefs for house parties in Kamloops and the Okanagan

Professional chefs are throwing down in private kitchens around Kamloops and the Okanagan thanks to a new business called Chez You.

The idea of hiring a private chef may seem expensive.

“But it doesn’t necessarily have to cost an arm and a leg,” said Jeremy Cummins, who founded Chez You with a small group from Kelowna. “Prices are competitive with what restaurant prices would be.”

To book a chef, party hosts can go online and share a few details about their special event.

“Then our team will select a chef whose availability and skill set are a match for what the client is looking for,” Cummins said.

Beyond special occasions, chefs can also be hired for in-home cooking lessons, regular meal prep and catered events.

Chez You chefs clean up their messes and also offer to pick up the groceries.

The idea came about while Cummins and his partners were spending time on a boat. They wanted to enjoy a nice meal but didn't feel like cooking, and that's how Chez You was born.

Having only launched a few weeks ago, Cummins said the response has been incredible, adding that there were eight bookings in the previous day. So far there are 35 chefs who are part of the team and more are invited to apply through the site.

Chez You's services are available throughout the Okanagan including Big White, as well as Kamloops and Revelstoke.
