KAMLOOPS - Kamloops is officially a wine region with the launch of provincial highway signs letting people know about local wineries.

The new signage will help guide tourists and locals to wineries in the area which recently joined forces to form the Kamloops Wineries Association.

Signs will be displayed at all five entry points to Kamloops — Highways 1, 5, 5A and 97 — and attraction signs will direct visitors to wineries. A billboard map will also be displayed outside of the Kamloops Visitor Centre.

"The comprehensive highway signage program the minister and his staff have put together will have a tremendous impact on success and future growth of the wine industry in this region,” Trish Morelli, Kamloops Wineries Association acting executive director, said at the unveiling today, June 19.

Harpers Trail, Monte Creek Ranch, Privato Vineyard and Winery and Sagewood Winery are all part of the winery association. The Kamloops Wine Trail will officially be launched next week.
