The wine world was rocked this summer with the heartbreaking news that beloved wine hero and pioneer Harry McWatters had passed. Happily, his wine legacy remains intact and in the very capable hands of his daughter Christa-Lee McWatters, who has been announced as the new president and CEO of ENCORE Vineyards, the brand that encompasses the McWatters family’s celebrated wine labels: TIME Winery, McWatters Collection and Evolve Cellars.
Big news! As of Sept. 16, the McWatters’ Summerland based winery Evolve Cellars is moving in beside its sibling brand TIME at 361 Martin Street in downtown Penticton.
A recent press release from the winery quotes: "It's been an exciting challenge as I take over managing the company," Christa-Lee said. "I miss my dad and his mentorship, and moving ahead without him is a struggle some days, but I know he would want us to carve out our own way to carry on the family legacy."
Construction is now underway within the now expanded TIME Winery space. A new Evolution Lounge is set to open spring of 2020. Visitors can look forward to a multi winery experience, enjoying Evolve Cellars' wines in the Evolution Lounge and then hopping next door to the TIME Winery tasting bar. The restaurant will serve both with seasonally focussed cuisine prepared by Chef AK Campbell and his culinary team.
