Incredible Hulk ready to 'smash' tasting of expensive cognac at West Kelowna winery
A West Kelowna winery is hosting an unusual and exclusive tasting event next month.
Crown & Thieves winery will be featuring both the Incredible Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno and a $4,200 bottle of LouisX111 cognac on Dec. 8.
"An event like this is unprecedented,” local filmmaker and event creator Norm Coyne said in a Barker Street Cinema media release.
“The last Louis XIII tasting was with Ferrari at Area 27. The fact that we are hosting one here at one of the best wineries in the Okanagan with Lou Ferrigno as a special guest is a tasty trifecta.”
Best known for his role as the Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno is a two-time winner of the Mr. Universe bodybuilding competition. Throughout his acting career, Ferrigno appeared on King of Queens several times, I Love You Man, Celebrity Apprentice and most recently played the role of Lenny Montana on the Amazon Prime series The Offer.
Coyne, who has worked with Ferrigno on past comic con-style events, has been working in the liquor industry and “had the idea to connect the dots to create something memorable,” according to the release.
"Our wineries are built on a spirit of the unexpected and unforgettable," Crown & Thieves winemaker and owner Jason Parkes said in the release. “A tasting event like this is a perfect fit.”

Created in 1874, LouisX111 cognac is the result of the life achievement of generations of Cellar Masters, and one of the world’s most prestigious cognac brands.
It is made from a blend of the finest and most precious eaux-de-vie, using grapes grown in Grande Champagne, encased in a unique decanter.
A decanter of Louis XIII retails for $4,200 at the Cask & Barrel liquor store in West Kelowna.
As part of the promotion leading up to the event, personally engraved bottles are available for order through Cask & Barrel and will be available for pick up at the store itself or at Crown & Thieves during the tasting for those who are attending the event.
Each ticket to the event includes one ounce of Louis XIII cognac, an autograph and photo with Lou Ferrigno, and a Crown & Thieves wine tasting led by sommelier Robbie Hundertmark.
Only 40 tickets are for sale for the event. They cost $400 plus tax and service fees and are available through Eventbrite here.
