LAKE COUNTRY - Night owls, rejoice; Ex Nihilo in Lake Country plans to be open later to satisfying all your evening cravings.

The popular winery at 1525 Camp Road has submitted a request to the District of Lake Country to be discussed at their upcoming council meeting on July 16. Ex Nihilo is asking the District they be allowed to extend their bistro hours to 9 p.m. from Monday to Sunday.

Jeff Harder, a partner with Ex Nihilo, said they decided to extend their hours after turning away droves of potential late-night customers. Ex Nihilo is in the heart of a thriving winery country, surrounded by popular spots like Gray Monk. Ex Nihilo's bistro closes at 7 p.m., much earlier than other locations. Harder said it's fairly common for their bistro to have to turn away customers looking for a late-evening meal, losing out on solid revenue.

"There's a demand," he said. "Why be the odd man out?"

Harder noted the bistro often sees more locals than tourists, with many Lake Country residents demanding later hours for restaurants.

Harder said the general camaraderie with other wineries in Lake Country convinced him to bump his bistro hours up to their standard. He expects the request to pass through the council meeting without trouble so he can hit the ground running on his increased bistro hours.

The council meeting will at the Lake Country Municipal Hall on July 16 at 7 p.m.
