iN WINE: CrAsian Food Truck opens two new eateries
Fans of The CrAsian Food Truck are about to lose their minds. The Koga sisters, Courtney and Meiko, owners and operators of the delicious destination food truck, have announced that they are expanding not once but twice into two different eatery extensions in town.
“The CrAsian Food Truck was created in July 2014 after looking for a change from years in the restaurant industry," Courtney says. "Now in our sixth season we are days away from opening Provisions at Kettle River Brewery. We have been partners with Kettle since 2016 when they invited us to park the truck at their grand opening. Since then, we have together hosted many events, established a combined following, and have grown our businesses separately in a way that has led us to be together where we are today.”
The sisters are partnering with local chef Brock Bowes for Provisions at Kettle River Brewery located in the super-hot new Brewery District destination in North Kelowna.
“Provisions will provide the guests at Kettle with fare to pair with their beer, matching Kettle’s casual, comfortable, outdoorsy themed space," Courtney explains. "Think high end camping food: House made sausages with seasonally inspired accompaniments, seared pork belly and braised beans, locally grown roasted vegetables, and maybe even a s’more for dessert. The kitchen will be our catering base where we will take on more events such as in-home plated dinners and business drop off lunches.”
The other exciting project is happening at BNA Brewing on Ellis Street downtown.
“Come September we will be introducing Boxcar at BNA," Courtney says. "Sticking true to the CrAsian theme, Boxcar will offer rotating Bánh Mì sandwiches and Steamed Buns, with both classic ingredients and North-American twists. The 170-seat expanded tasting room at BNA will also be true form to what the Nixons prove to do in all their projects. You can expect nothing but the best with a one-of-a-kind social room, eclectic decor, and interactive activities.”
