Jennifer Schell’s “unique portrait” of B.C.’s winemakers, The B.C. Wine Lover's Cookbook, has been out for just a matter of weeks and it’s already winning over a large following.

“Our COVID-19 culture seems to have inspired the inner cook and baker in many,” Schell said. “Cookbook sales in general are solid as people are at home and cooking more and perhaps finally finding time to try new recipes and learn new methods.”

The book that features the families across B.C. who put their heart and soul into feeding others has been getting a lot of tread with food and wine writers and those who want to indulge in some of the best cultural offerings B.C. has to offer.

“Because wine touring has also become more difficult, the cookbook offers readers a virtual tour through B.C. wine country, introducing the cuisine, the wines and of course the stories of the wonderful people behind the labels,” Schell said.

Fifty-three wineries from around the province — including the Okanagan, Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island — each shared a favourite family recipe and wine match for readers to enjoy.

An opportunity to get a copy and to speak with the woman who put it all together in one volume will happen Friday, July 17 from noon until 2 p.m. at The Lakehouse on Bernard Ave.

Jennifer Molgat from the View will join Schell for a wine tasting, too.
