Four eateries in the Okanagan have made it into the top 100 restaurants in Canada for 2021 in a list compiled by OpenTable.

The online restaurant reservation site compiled an extensive list of the year’s most highly rated dining spots based on more than half a million reviews from across the country.

BLOCK ONE Restaurant at the 50th Parallel Winery, Home Block Restaurant at the CedarCreek Estate Winery, Terrace Restaurant at the Mission Hill Family Estate, and Waterfront Wines Restaurant and Wine Bar in downtown Kelowna have all made the top 100 list.

"After more than a year of restrictions, diners are eager to experiment and make up for lost time," OpenTable Canada director Matt Davis said in a media release. "This user-generated list of Top 100 Restaurants in Canada highlights restaurants that will help guide diners on their culinary adventures and New Year’s Eve reservations."

According to OpenTable, the list is made from 540,000 "verified" reviews.

British Columbia had the highest number of restaurants in the top 100 with 36, followed by Alberta at 33 and Ontario at 28.

According to a recent OpenTable survey, almost half of British Columbian diners are "culinary-curious" and interested in trying more experimental foods in 2022.

And more than a quarter of those surveyed anticipated dining at new restaurants.
