There is a lot of buzz these days around the new District Wine Village in Oliver. The first of its kind in Canada, the village will be home to 16 small, craft producers and an exciting new destination for visitors.

Valley Commons is one of the new winery tenants ready to launch this August. A new venture for owners Kyla Richey and Rudy Verhoeff, they are excited to open their doors in early August for tastings.

Kyla and Rudy are new to the wine game. Both come from the sports world as volleyball players on Canada’s Men's and Women's National teams. The couple dreamed of owning a business together that involved food and drink. In 2020, an opportunity arose to purchase land in the Fraser Valley and they decided to plant a vineyard and launch a winery.

The inaugural 2020 wines will be released this August.

The first vintage was created by winemaker Mark Simpson of B.C. Wine Studio and the first releases are: Garden Society, a premium red blend; Harvest Table, a white table blend; a Cabernet Franc, a Pinot Gris, and a Rosé. These wines will also be available for purchase online here as of the end of August.
