First King Taps in B.C. opens in downtown Kelowna on Okanagan Lake

B.C.’s first King Taps location opened today, June 22, after months of preparation.

Located in the heart of downtown Kelowna’s waterfront, the restaurant offers 270 degrees of unmatched indoor and outdoor Okanagan Lake views across two levels, and space for almost 500 guests to enjoy them, according to a King Taps media release.

The indoor areas feature lounge and dining room seating while outdoors there are covered and open air patios with heating and misting systems. The second level of the building, called the Terrace has indoor and patio cabana-style booths. 

“We’re beyond excited to be opening our second King Taps location, and first in B.C., along downtown’s iconic waterfront,” King Taps regional manager Thomas Beetlestone said in the release.

“As Kelowna’s new waterfront hangout, everyone is invited to discover our outstanding service, selection and style. We’ve got something for everyone, whether guests are looking for a casual drink, elevated fine-dining or anything in between.”

Beetlestone said 150 hospitality professionals have been hired and trained for the new venture.

King Taps’ menu consists of high-quality food, including a la carte signature entrees, salads and bowls, burgers and sandwiches, which are all made in-house with fresh, sustainable and local ingredients. It also their signature pizzas with 24-hour aged dough, hand stretched and baked to order in specialty ovens imported from Italy.

The restaurant has the capacity for nearly 100 tap lines to serve the best in regional, domestic and international beers, wine, cider and cocktails.

“At King Taps Lakeside, our chefs create best-in-class entrees, shareable plates, pizza-lover-pizzas, mouth-watering handhelds and more, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan-friendly options,” chef James Bunting said in the release. “Our kitchen team strives to make memorable, delicious food accompanied by complimentary drinks, including the best in Okanagan wines. We’ve got something for everyone.”

The original King Taps opened in Toronto’s Financial District in 2017, and has since become a well-loved local hotspot.

Reservations are available online and walk-ins are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Nearby boaters will be able to easily pick up takeout items such as pizza, beer or bags of ice via QR code. The restaurant will offer takeout its website and delivery via DoorDash.

The location is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.,at 1352 Water Street.
