Farmer Friday: Green Croft Gardens
Okanagan Farmers Market regulars will be very familiar with these two lovely faces and their electric lime green van. Wolf and Gaby Wesle of Greencroft Gardens in Grindrod have been involved in our local farmers market world for many years and are staples at the Kelowna Farmers & Crafters Market.
Leaders in the Okanagan organic movement, Green Croft certified organic produce is a hot ticket at the markets, and the range of vegetables they grow is amazing. Planting strategically, they have different products available through all of the seasons including late fall with cellared products offered during the winter markets.
You can also visit their beautiful farm in tiny Grindrod that is chock full of vegetable fields and happy animals. The family really epitomizes all that we would hope our local farmers to be. Lovingly growing produce and tending their land with care, they also practice the most tender form of animal husbandry. All of their creatures on this farm are respected and loved and all form a part of the Wesle family.
The couple moved to B.C. from Germany many years ago to raise their family and purchase a farm. Wolf has a degree in dairy agriculture, but his love of bringing forth life from the soil, had him diversify his practice.
