Don O Ray is a one stop farmers market shop & more
From its humble beginnings as a farmgate vegetable stand in 1960, over the last 16 years in the loving hands of the Sanghera and Basran families, Don O Ray has bloomed into a one stop local shop.
Visiting Don O Ray at its handy Benvoulin Road location in Kelowna is literally like going to the farmers market.
Here you will find a huge array of fruits and vegetables grown by the family themselves on their farms. Besides their own offerings, the families share local products from other local farmers and artisans allowing them to provide their customers with a complete shopping experience.
From Okanagan dairy products (milk, cheese etc.), to sausages and farm-raised chicken, they also carry international dry goods with a full line of Mexican pantry items and other spices and grains. Those in the know also flock here to purchase the family’s homemade Indian cuisine in the freezer section – the butter chicken sauce is a favourite.
Don O Ray is all about family.
“We nurture the seeds we planted in our fields and watch them grow just as we do our children,” Jas says.
And because they love children so much, they created a farm adventure aspect to their operation. Don-O-Ray Farm Adventure features a petting zoo, hedge maze, an ice-cream station with 24 flavours of ice-cream, and fresh “spud nut” doughnuts every week.
Open June to December, you will be welcomed here like one of the family.
