B.C. brewery forced to remove children's play area
Kids are allowed in B.C. breweries but play areas are not.
Without realizing it would be against the law, the owners of Old Yale Brewing built the Little Explorers Corner at their Abbotsford location in April.
But it only last for a couple of months.
“The BC Liquor & Cannabis Branch has interpreted one of their regulations in a way that was both unexpected and disappointing,” Old Yale said in a Facebook post.
“There has been an ongoing discussion behind the scenes since we opened our doors back in April and unfortunately after many discussions and suggested revisions on our end, we were not able to find common ground. If you know the team at Old Yale, you know that one of our best qualities is our creativity and we tried just about every creative idea we could think of.”
The Old Yale site says there are still high chairs, board games and colouring for children.
“Please tell your Little Explorers that we fought for them, and that we’re sorry.”
