Heavy snowfall is expected this weekend on the Coquihalla and Trans-Canada with freezing rain on the Okanagan Connector.

Environment Canada has issued warnings for travellers about dangerous driving conditions.

The Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass is expected to get 20 to 30 centimetres of snow starting tonight and continuing through Saturday.

The Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt could get between 15 to 20 cm of snow starting Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday afternoon.

The Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna is expected to get freezing rain overnight and Saturday morning. The rain is expected to turn into light flurries towards the afternoon.

Environment Canada said a strong Pacific low pressure system is coming through the BC Interior bringing a mix of rain and snow.

Weather in the mountains can change quickly and cause hazardous driving conditions, and drivers should be prepared to adjust and slow down accordingly.

Check DriveBC for road conditions.
