A woman from the U.S. was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada near Field on Wednesday.

The collision at around 12:20 p.m., Aug. 7, happened at Highway 1 and Emerald Lake Road near Field.

RCMP say a pickup truck carrying two passengers from the United States crossed the centre line and hit an oncoming minivan carrying three passengers from Alberta.

“All involved were transported to hospital, two of which were by air ambulance to Calgary,” reads an RCMP media release issued today, Aug. 9.

Police say the passenger of the pickup truck has since died from her injuries, while the other four people remain in hospital in stable, yet "serious" condition.

The woman's identity has not been released by police.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The highway was closed for several hours.
