Tow truck stolen in front of Kamloops RCMP
A tow truck driver was helping with a flat tire Monday morning when the customers took off with the truck in front of a Kamloops RCMP officer.
Police were called around 5:25 a.m., Oct. 30 as the tow truck driver was working on a BMW that "appeared suspicious," according to a Kamloops RCMP news release.
“As police arrived on scene and were talking with the tow truck driver outside of the vehicle, the two people from the BMW stole the tow truck and fled toward Merritt, with the BMW still attached,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn of Kamloops RCMP said in the news release.
Police recovered the BMW near Salmon Arm later, followed by the tow truck near Tappen. The tow truck was unoccupied, according to police.
It's not clear whether police have identified the suspects involved nor whether officers immediately pursued the fleeing tow truck.
Evelyn did not immediately respond to follow up questions from iNFOnews.ca.
