Suspected impaired driver hit several parked vehicles in downtown Kelowna
Kelowna RCMP arrested a driver who was a suspect in multiple vehicular collisions in the downtown area.
On Aug. 12 of 2023 around 5:30 p.m., RCMP received many reports of an unpredictable driver, suspected to be impaired, in the downtown area colliding into multiple parked vehicles.
“We are very thankful that no one was hurt during this incident considering the driving behavior and the distance the vehicle travelled while operated in this manner,” Sergeant Judith Bertrand, the Media Liaison Officer for the Kelowna Regional Detachment said in a release.
The first incident was seen in the Dilworth area, leading into downtown Kelowna followed by many complaints from witnesses.
The RCMP located the vehicle after it had collided with a building on Leon Avenue. The driver was alone, arrested at the scene and taken to the Kelowna police detachment.
“The driver is in custody and will be attending court in the morning. They are facing many criminal charges and Motor Vehicle Act infractions,” Bertrand said in the release.
